At McBride, we are seeking an ambitious and self-motivated individual to fill the role of Electrical Maintenance Technician. As a key member of our line crew, you will be responsible for ensuring all engineering tasks are carried out and recorded on time and in a safe manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out and record all engineering tasks on assigned lines/equipment, including electrical and mechanical tasks.
  2. Produce and action T-cards for all jobs to be planned/carried out on assigned lines.
  3. As part of the line crew, perform all production tasks required on assigned lines.
  4. Communicate effectively within own and across shifts regarding technical status of assigned lines/equipment.
  5. Maintain lines in a fully functioning state for the next shift to take over, and carry out effective shift handovers with shift reports.
  6. Maintain change-parts shadow boards to support OEE levels on assigned lines/equipment.
  7. Properly record all parts used for maintenance and repair, booking out against line/equipment.
  8. Interface with maintenance planner and stores personnel for planning and provision of spares, materials for equipment.
  9. Liaise with Engineering Team Manager for workload planning and technical support.
  10. Ensure all downtime is recorded correctly in the appropriate system (SAP). Identify and carry out Continuous Improvement C.I. activities in conjunction with line production colleagues, and create T-Cards to cover these.
  11. Carry out changeover activities in conjunction with production colleagues, including contribution to SMED programmes and other lean activities.
  12. Support/guide Senior Operators in performing cleaning schedules.
  13. Perform preventive maintenance schedules and tasks, including lubrication, overhaul of spare modules, and planned downtime activity (in association with the maintenance team), using T-Card & Pirana CMMS system to record actions and generate follow-up works as needed.
  14. Help identify and adhere to standard settings for all.
  15. Contribute to and where appropriate own, improvement/replacement projects.
  16. Provide technical training for production colleagues and engineering apprentices on assigned equipment.
  17. Self-train to maintain skill and knowledge base, and build towards Electrician Plus skill-set, sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  18. Maintain housekeeping standards and improve them.
  19. Maintain legal compliances for COMAH, ATEX/DSEAR, and other areas, including performing level control proof-testing procedures.
  20. Have responsibility within Emergency Evacuation Plan to carry out the Engineering Investigation Team Role, presenting themselves in an emergency to fulfil these duties, and taking steps to ensure they fully understand their duties (e.g., attending practice sessions, performing weekly fire alarm testing).
  21. Maintain a working knowledge of site fire alarm systems and emergency shutdown and isolation procedures.
  22. Comply with Permit To Work systems, Isolation Procedures, and all other HSE Systems.

Requirements:

  1. Engineering skills obtained by time-served apprenticeship or equivalent (NVQ Level 3).
  2. Plus skill set is an additional Cross-trade NVQ Level 3 bolt-on to core role.
  3. Multiskilled with proven basic electrical competency.
  4. Continuous improvement and root cause analysis skills.
  5. Literate and numerate (GCSE level English and Maths or equivalent desirable).
  6. Ability to interpret documentation in English Language.
  7. Experience in food FMCG or equivalent process industry.
  8. Familiar with packaging lines, drives, conveyors, rotating machinery, pumping equipment, and valves.
  9. Familiar with pneumatically and hydraulically controlled systems.
  10. Competent in safe working procedures.
