Financial Operations Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join our team at YES Events. As a Financial Operations Specialist, you will play a key role in owning day-to-day finance and drafting management accounts. You will have the opportunity to put your stamp on financial processes, financial reporting, and support with system changes to a more automated, modern finance function in preparation for future audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on all day-to-day accounting tasks, including but not limited to:
  • GBP bank reconciliation, credit card, and charge card reconciliations with Sage Cloud Accounting.
  • Accounts receivable.
  • Purchase invoice/receipt processing and accounts payable.
  • Weekly payment runs.
  • Ownership of accounts inbox.
  • Produce draft monthly management accounts, including P&L and full reconciled balance sheet, complete with accruals, accrued income, deferred income, and prepayments.
  • Employee expense processing and payments.
  • Preparation of the quarterly VAT draft return.
  • Supporting with cash forecasting and cost control.
  • Accounting for fixed assets (additions, disposals, and depreciation).
  • Support with credit checking and onboarding new credit customers.
  • Be the go-to person for daily finance queries.
  • Support the implementation of a range of new systems and processes for April 2024, including Xero, Dext, and new areas related to charge cards and credit cards.
  • Creating and bolstering Excel schedules, reporting packs, policies, and workbooks.
  • Work with external accountants for year-end statutory submissions and adjustments.

Key Details

  • Part-time (3 or 4 days per week), office-based, 9am-5pm (flexible hours if needed).
  • Circa £30,000 pro rata (dependent on experience, skillset, and qualifications).
  • Office-based in Wokingham.
  • This role reports into the recently placed Financial Controller (ACCA). This would be the number two position within the team, with a chance to really put your stamp on the role.
  • This role could move into a more senior role over time.
  • Study contract (ACCA/CIMA) can be provided for the right candidate after probation period.

Key Requirements

  • Early studier (ACCA or CIMA) or AAT as minimum, University degree is not essential.
  • At least 2 years well-rounded experience in general accounting/management accounting.

  • Working knowledge of Xero (new systems live April 2025).
  • Intermediate Excel (Pivots, Vlookup, Sumifs).
  • Located within a 45-minute drive of the office.
