Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding Facilitator to join our team at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting mental health staff in the delivery and embedding of safeguarding in clinical settings across the trust.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the development of safeguarding practice to fulfill the organisation's statutory and contractual obligations. This will include the provision of safeguarding advice, support, and some teaching. The post holder will work proactively across all BSMHFT sites, with local relevant networks of safeguarding professionals, and with the Local Safeguarding Board/Partnership Training Sub Groups to promote effective safeguarding practice.

Requirements
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and training in safeguarding and domestic abuse
  • Education to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Current professional qualification
  • Significant experience of working in the field of safeguarding and domestic abuse
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the issues and legislation relating to child/adult safeguarding, including the impact of domestic violence
  • Experience of working with parents suffering from mental health/addiction problems and ability to reflect on the implications for the child and the family
  • Supervision skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Able to establish and develop effective working relationships across agency boundaries
