About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding Facilitator to join our team at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting mental health staff in the delivery and embedding of safeguarding in clinical settings across the trust.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the development of safeguarding practice to fulfill the organisation's statutory and contractual obligations. This will include the provision of safeguarding advice, support, and some teaching. The post holder will work proactively across all BSMHFT sites, with local relevant networks of safeguarding professionals, and with the Local Safeguarding Board/Partnership Training Sub Groups to promote effective safeguarding practice.

Key Requirements

  • Significant experience of working in the field of safeguarding and domestic abuse.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the issues and legislation relating to child/adult safeguarding, including the impact of domestic violence.
  • Experience of working with parents suffering from mental health/addiction problems and the ability to reflect on the implications for the child and the family.

Person Specification

The post holder will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work autonomously and at any location across the trust. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or have equivalent work experience and will have a practical knowledge of how to safeguard children, young people, and adults with care and support needs.
