London, Greater London, United Kingdom NHS Full time

Estimated salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum

About the Role

This exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Healthcare Support Specialist in the borough of Greenwich.

As a Healthcare Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting our patients with their health and wellbeing needs. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct NHS Health Checks, face-to-face and telephone smoking cessation consultations, and provide HCA support for our Long-Acting Reversible Contraception clinics.

You will also be required to travel to various locations across the borough, working closely with our clinical staff to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing referrals, triaging, and booking patients into clinics at our busy patient call centre based at Ferryview Health Centre.

Your working pattern will be 40 hours per week, with working hours between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, 5 days a week, Monday to Sunday on a three-week rota. You will also work one weekend day from 8 am to 4 pm every third week.

Main Responsibilities
  • NHS Health Checks: Deliver the NHS Health Check sessions across Greenwich within the Live Well Centres, creating a patient-focused environment to help individuals identify how their behaviour might affect their health and wellbeing.
  • Smoking Cessation: Provide telephone or face-to-face support to patients wishing to quit smoking, advising them on nicotine replacement therapy options and providing ongoing support throughout their 12-week quit journey.
  • LARC Clinic: Act as a LARC assistant to our LARC clinical staff, ensuring that patients feel comfortable and that the clinician has appropriate, timely support.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative. You should also be able to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure, prioritizing your workload as necessary.
