Key Responsibilities
  • Review tender technical specifications and identify potential risks, opportunities, and deviations related to civil design.
  • Participate in contract reviews with the Plant Lead Engineer and interpret technical specifications to confirm civil design scope and highlight deviations.
  • Lead the Civil Design team to deliver projects within budget, scope, and time plan.
  • Define the scope of work for the department and Civil Designers, ensuring alignment with engineering budget and project time schedule.
  • Ensure civil design compliance with applicable local standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Generate bills of quantities (BoQ) from 3D civil design models.
  • Coordinate civil design disciplines to facilitate integrated 3D design, adhering to departmental processes and technical specifications.
  • Manage change requests, documenting changes and ensuring design updates accordingly.
  • Review project document lists and customer document lists.
  • Verify Civil Designer deliveries to ensure quality.
  • Conduct design review meetings (DRM) according to internal processes and protocols, documenting actions and questions.
  • Consider constructability and HSE aspects during design development.
  • Share feedback and lessons learned with the department and relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil design engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with HV/EHV Switchyard equipment foundations, including power transformers, reactors, switching equipment, gantry and towers, drainage and cable trenches, GIS building foundations, and office/storage building foundations.
  • Ability to review civil drawings and documents to ensure compliance with local country regulations.
  • Hands-on experience in BOQ for civil foundation, superstructure, PEB structures associated with substations/switchyards.
  • Technical knowledge of steel structures and reinforced concrete structures, including BIM/ACC, Staad, AutoCAD/Revit.
  • Experience in substation design and industrial structures.
  • Experience in high-voltage switchyard equipment foundations and structures, including power transformer and reactor foundations.
  • Experience in steel structures like gantry and tower structures and foundations.
  • Experience in estimating civil foundation, superstructures, PEB structures.
  • Knowledge of process structuring and process management.
