Job Title: Head of Manager Research

A leading research publisher is seeking a highly experienced Manager or Senior Manager to join their growing Research Integrity team. This pivotal role will support the Associate Director in implementing the Research Integrity strategy across a large portfolio of hybrid and open access journals, while managing a team in the resolution of publication ethics cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement policies, processes, and resources to ensure research integrity and compliance with industry best practices.
  2. Lead the team in achieving the goal of maintaining a reputation as a high-quality ethical publisher.
  3. Translate research integrity strategic objectives into practical plans to improve ethical policies and procedures.
  4. Identify and mitigate risks associated with publication ethics and develop efficient workflows for case resolution.
  5. Collaborate with Editorial, Peer Review, and Production teams to develop and maintain resources around research integrity matters.
  6. Lead on the management of ethics cases arising on journals, including reviewing submitted or published articles and creating solutions to potential ethical problems.
  7. Supervise investigations of authors, reviewers, or editors where ethical problems are suspected or identified.
  8. Communicate with external parties, including research institutions, as required.
  9. Provide regular reports on case work to senior leaders to create visibility of trends and emerging issues.
  10. Participate in industry projects and working groups to promote research integrity externally.
Requirements:
  1. Excellent understanding of research, publication ethics, and industry best practices.
  2. Experience in managing a team of research integrity specialists and overseeing a global portfolio of journals.
  3. Ability to manage multiple expectations from diverse stakeholders.
  4. Confidence, discretion, and good judgment in navigating complex ethical issues and managing sensitive situations.
  5. Strong and collaborative communication skills, with strong problem-solving abilities.
