About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Pastoral Support Officer to join our team at a forward-thinking secondary school in Newham. This role is perfect for someone passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Year and pastoral team to implement behaviour and well-being strategies
  • Provide 1:1 and group mentoring to students facing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges
  • Build positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted mentor and role model
  • Assist with behaviour management, supporting teachers in maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Monitor attendance and punctuality, implementing interventions where needed
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive student support
  • Promote a positive school ethos and contribute to student well-being initiatives

Who We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH or behavioural challenges in a school or similar setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • A proactive, compassionate approach to mentoring and supporting young people
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and safeguarding practices

Additional Details:

  • Full-time role, Monday to Friday
  • Paid £110-£125 per day, term time only
  • Based in Newham, London - excellent public transport connections
  • Start date: January 2025, with potential for a long-term placement
