Job Title: Assistant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team at Step 4 Psychological Therapies Knowsley. As an Assistant Psychologist, you will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing the professional psychological care of clients within our service.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Support Clinical Psychologists in conducting psychological assessments, including the use of psychometric tests, self-report measures, and semi-structured interviews.
  2. Assist in the formulation and delivery of interventions, working under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
  3. Provide one-to-one consultations with service users, exercising judgment based on good practice and local operating procedures.
  4. Work with potentially distressing material, including risk to self and others.
  5. Prepare accurate assessment reports and assist in the coordination of therapeutic groups.
  6. Receive regular clinical supervision and engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.
  7. Contribute to the training and support of other staff and assist in the design and implementation of service development projects.
  8. Undertake data collection, analysis, and report writing, using IT and statistical programmes.
  9. Conduct literature searches to inform evidence-based practice.
  10. Maintain high professional standards, confidentiality, and adhere to relevant legislation and policies.
Requirements:
  • An honours degree that satisfies the British Psychological Society criteria for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership.
  • Postgraduate training in areas relevant to psychological practice, mental health, and/or research design and analysis.
  • Experience in research methodology, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of Psychological theories and their application to mental health self-harming behaviours.
  • Previous experience working with service users and families.
  • Knowledge of Psychological Therapies and NICE guidelines.
