About the Role

The Health Equity Specialist will play a key role in the regional Public Health directorate and Health Equity team, reporting to the Prevention Programme Manager. The successful candidate will support the direction for regional efforts to improve healthy life expectancy and reduce health inequalities.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will provide advice, guidance, and support to the Prevention Programme Manager and health equity team to ensure that projects and programmes of work for improving population health, supporting prevention, and reducing health inequalities are delivered effectively.

The Health Equity Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of key activities and tasks as agreed with the Prevention Programme Manager and system colleagues. They will work collaboratively with colleagues across the directorate and regionally to support the delivery of system and regional objectives.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working within a public health team and/or supporting public health
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting routinely collected health and social care data
  • Relevant qualitative research and/or evaluation experience
  • Experience of evaluating and measuring the performance of healthcare or health services
  • Experience of delivering Public Health initiatives to tackle inequalities and improve population health
