The NHS England board has set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all. As a key member of the regional Public Health (PH) directorate and Health Equity team, you will support the direction for regional efforts to improve regional healthy life expectancy and reduce health inequalities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advice, guidance, and support to the Prevention Programme Manager and health equity team to ensure that projects/programmes of work for improving population health, supporting prevention, and reducing health inequalities are delivered effectively.
- Deliver key activities and tasks as agreed with the Prevention Programme Manager and system colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the directorate and regionally to support the delivery of system and regional objectives.
- Lead a multidisciplinary matrix team to support the delivery of health equity projects and workstreams, focused on achieving national, regional, and local priorities aligned to the Core20Plus 5 initiative, strategic priorities, the regional Long Term Plan (LTP) prevention agenda, and PHM strategies.
- Master's degree level in health research, epidemiology, statistics, public health, or an allied subject.
- Further training or significant experience in project management, financial management, or supporting change management processes.
- At least 3 months of experience working within a public health team and/or supporting public health.
- Experience analysing and interpreting routinely collected health and social care data.
- Relevant qualitative research and/or evaluation experience, including data collection using interview-based and observation methods, and qualitative data analysis.
- Experience of evaluating and measuring the performance of healthcare or health services or related projects aimed at exploring issues related to health inequalities, health, or environments using quasi-experimental methods.
- Experience of undertaking rapid evidence reviews.
- Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments.
- Experience of delivering Public Health initiatives to tackle inequalities and improve population health.
- Experience in communications and stakeholder management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques, and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project.
- Demonstrated experience in a Healthcare environment.
