Job Opportunity: Assistant Director

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is seeking highly skilled and experienced professionals to fill multiple Assistant Director positions in the Land Transport Infrastructure Division.

As an Assistant Director, you will play a key role in managing the delivery of nationally significant infrastructure projects within the Infrastructure Investment Program (IIP) across Australia.

Your responsibilities will include supporting the Director with the management of financials, risk, and delivery of projects, as well as leading the assessment, preparation of advice, and reporting on Australian Government existing and future infrastructure investments.

You will also be responsible for maintaining productive working relationships with State, Territory, and Local Government counterparts, providing secretariat support and input to State and Territory program meetings, and providing key program governance functions to support the delivery of the IIP.

In addition, you will develop briefing materials to support Ministers, Departmental Executive, and Central agencies, including for Senate Estimates, Question Time Briefs, and Question on Notice.

To be successful in this role, you will require high-quality leadership skills and experience with team management and people development, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and highly developed stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.

You will also need to be able to work in a high-pressure, complex environment, apply a high level of attention to detail, and manage competing priorities.
