Aerospace Team Leader

GKN Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled Team Leader to join our team at our Filton site in Bristol. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components, and wing systems for both civil and military aircraft.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of professionals in achieving People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash, and Cost (PSQDCC) targets through the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model.
- Accountable for Operational Excellence across your designated area of responsibility, in line with the Performance Centre objectives.
- Create a Great Place to Work by developing and empowering first-class Team Members and driving a culture of continuous improvement, safe working, and open dialogue.
- Hold team members accountable and fellow Team Leaders accountable to embody the GKN Aerospace culture principles.
- Be Open and Honest when appraising and managing individual performance while supporting and coaching individuals to close performance gaps.
- Provide opportunities for Team Members to play to their strengths, do what they do best, and create ongoing opportunities for learning and personal development.
- Exemplify a safety-first mindset, ensuring that the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards are applied, and that your assigned areas are a model of a world-class healthy and safe working environment.
- Lead and develop your teams to understand the context, mechanics, and delivery of PSQDCC targets in a sustainable way to meet customer and stakeholder commitments.
- Drive the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model across your designated areas, looking for improvements and including your team.
- Develop first-class Team Members who embody the GKN Aerospace culture principles and are readily able to progress to become Team Leaders or other key roles in the organisation.
- Active involvement in problem-solving and the management system using a "go to Gemba" approach to solve problems with the ambition that 95% of issues can be solved within the zone itself.
- Contribute to the Value Stream future state design and ensure its execution across your assigned areas.
- Cooperate with other Team Leaders and managers to ensure the best performance outcomes for the entire area.
- Hold the functional support staff accountable for adhering to the Global standards and enabling your zone teams to meet their targets.
- Ensure clear communication and actions between all zones to support the material flow in the area.
- Ensure the disciplined execution of Daily Management and Standardised work through the conscientious adherence to Leader Standard Work and taking appropriate action if standards are not met.
- Drive and facilitate the Engagement of all team members, ensuring engagement actions are identified, implemented, and followed through.
- Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements and ensure that staff are aware of the policies and their individual responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Manage a zone budget as agreed with your Group Leader.
- Take total ownership of your area when having to make difficult decisions in your zone and ensure improvements are embedded in day-to-day practice.
- Able to demonstrate competence to undertake key tasks within your designated work zone or those in zones with similar experience.
- Excellent performance as a Team member demonstrating rigorous adherence to standardised work and a track record of Kaizen implementation.
- Self-motivated by meeting and exceeding PSQDCC performance targets.
- The demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated potential to lead, engage, train, and develop direct reports.
- Good standard of English language.
