Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Lipid CNS nursing team at the University Hospital of Llandough as a Band 6 Apheresis CNS. As a complex and expanding service, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced nurse to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking apheresis procedures within the Lipid Unit at University Hospital Llandough, working alongside the Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist. The role will involve delivering care to patients in a weekday day care setting, as well as participating in nurse-led clinics where patients are assessed and counselled prior to treatment.

The apheresis team is expanding and developing links with other areas, such as the cardiac and familial hyperlipoidaemia service. The successful candidate will also be responsible for setting standards of practice and quality and service improvement by auditing practice, presenting data, writing and implementing documents, and teaching.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant post-registration experience in the specialty
  • Evidence of managerial ability and experience
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular and lipid conditions
  • Experience of teaching and assessing in the clinical area

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Previous experience of working in a variety of settings
  • Venepuncture and cannulation skills
