Job Description

Senior Procurement Governance & Policy Specialist

About the Role

Croydon Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Procurement Governance & Policy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Strategic Procurement and Governance team, you will play a critical role in driving improvements in procurement and purchasing practices, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and providing optimum value for money.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and improve procurement and purchasing practices to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement corrective actions to address non-compliance and work with procurement colleagues to implement these actions.
  • Lead on updating and communicating tender and contract documents, templates, and guidance in line with changes to legislation or recommendations received through internal or external scrutiny.
  • Represent procurement both internally and externally, engaging with stakeholders to ensure procurement is effectively enabling the organization to conduct its activities in compliance with the Tender and Contract Regulations and national procurement legislation.

Requirements

  • Working towards MCIPS qualification or equivalent.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current and prospective public procurement legislation.
  • Experience of contract management and managing and improving procurement governance.
