Job Description

Senior Procurement Governance & Policy Specialist

About the Role

Croydon Council is seeking a highly skilled Senior Procurement Governance & Policy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for delivering improvements in procurement practices that drive compliance and provide optimum value for money.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing compliance to procurement/purchasing policies and procedures, notably the Tender and Contract Regulations (TCRs).
  • Identifying corrective actions to address non-compliance and working with procurement colleagues to implement these and where necessary escalating repeated non-compliance.
  • Leading on the identification of changes to relevant national procurement policy and legislation, considering the implications, applying it locally (including updates to documentation) and communicating the changes across the council.
  • Representing procurement both internally and externally and proactively engaging with internal and external stakeholders across the council to ensure that procurement is effectively enabling the organisation to conduct its activities in compliance with the Tender and Contract Regulations and national procurement legislation.

Requirements

  • Working towards your MCIPS qualification, and have up-to-date knowledge of current and prospective public procurement legislation.
  • Experience of contract management as well as managing and improving procurement governance.
