About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Transport Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a key member of our transport service, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of children with special needs to and from school.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the transportation of children with mobility problems or severe/moderate learning difficulties, including those who require wheelchair assistance, to and from school or other authorized locations.
  • Support children with specific medical conditions, providing additional care and attention as required.
  • Collaborate with drivers and educators to ensure seamless transitions and effective communication.
  • Familiarize yourself with pupils' individual needs, adapting your support accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil behavior and incident reports, adhering to Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Act as a liaison between schools, parents, and colleagues, promoting a collaborative environment.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and understanding when working with children and adults alike. Your ability to adapt to changing situations, think critically, and prioritize tasks effectively will be invaluable in this position.

Working Conditions:

This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, often standing for extended periods, and engaging in physical activities to assist pupils. You must be willing to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as required by the Education Authority's schedule.

Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is £22,000 - £25,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
