Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust. As a Senior Medical Leader in Old Age Psychiatry, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients referred to our service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric care to patients referred to our service, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Conduct MCA and MHA assessments, attend complex case discussions, and provide senior medical leadership as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to team meetings, including team performance and business meetings, and provide medical guidance to team members.
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Excellent knowledge in Old Age Psychiatry.
  • Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
Desirable Criteria
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to old age psychiatry post within NHS or comparable service.
  • Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
  • Experienced in clinical research and/or service evaluation.
