Senior Lecturer in Construction and Built Environment

Role Summary
The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in construction and built environment, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deliver, and assess high-quality construction programs, ensuring students and employers receive an outstanding level of service.
- Take responsibility for delivering engaging and well-planned lessons, lectures, and practical workshop sessions for various programs, including Level 3 T-levels and Level 4/5 HNC/Ds.
- Lecturers should be passionate about their area of teaching and enthusiastic about supporting students and apprentices to reach their full potential.
- Deliver high-quality teaching in accordance with approved College standards and applicable validating/moderating bodies, preparing teaching materials, sequences of learning, and lesson plans as required.
- Assess students' written and practical work, monitoring and reporting on their progress, and maintaining good order in the teaching environment.
- Undertake day-to-day course management duties, including all communication, problem-solving, and diagnostic compliance.
- Assist with the recruitment and selection of suitable candidates for courses and manage enrolment procedures effectively.
- Monitor student attendance and results, including start-of-year registers, exam entry, and attendance, and report on attendance, retention, achievement, and success.
- Attend meetings, including staff meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, courses, and discussions, internal and external to the College, and report back as appropriate.
- Work with colleagues throughout the College to develop courses, training methods, and materials, including attendance at Focus Days and other compulsory CPD events.
- Assist with departmental administration, including the timely marking of registers, updating of Pro-Monitor, and producing reports on student attendance, retention, and achievement.
- Participate in relevant college meetings/groups/committees and quality assurance mechanisms, including verification, moderation, course reviews, and Self-Assessment Reviews.
- Undertake Internal Verification/Moderation/Standardisation procedures for an agreed curriculum/course(s).
- Liaise as required with Higher Education Institutions.

- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
- Comply with and understand all aspects of legislation and College policies and processes relating to safeguarding, including promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
- Comply with, understand, and promote statutory and College best practice in Health & Safety at a level relevant to the role and responsibilities held by the post holder.

- Actively take responsibility for their personal learning and development (informal and formal), reviewing and reflecting on their performance within their current role.
