About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chef to join our team at Holroyd Howe, a leading contract caterer providing fresh and innovative food services to independent schools and colleges.

As a Senior Chef, you will be responsible for collaborating with our culinary team to craft flavourful dishes that nourish both body and mind. You will assist the Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation, production, and service, ensuring the quality and presentation of all dishes meet the company's standards and client expectations.

You will also supervise and train kitchen staff, kitchen assistants, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures. Additionally, you will assist in menu planning and development, taking into consideration dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and seasonal ingredients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in food preparation, production, and service
  • Ensure quality and presentation of dishes meet company standards
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff and assistants
  • Assist in menu planning and development
  • Oversee stock control and ordering
  • Collaborate with catering team on special events and initiatives
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
  • Support Head Chef in administrative tasks
  • Stay updated on industry trends and culinary techniques

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a contract catering company or educational institution
  • Culinary degree or relevant certifications
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
