Financial Control Specialist Opportunity

Peak Scientific Instruments Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Financial Control Specialist to join our HQ team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the set-up and development of a group financial control function, including review and documentation of business processes, identification and monitoring of business risks and controls, and making recommendations as appropriate.

The role will require collaboration with various stakeholders to identify and implement effective financial controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and document full end-to-end business process flows, developing an understanding of financial and non-financial controls
  • Create, coordinate, and drive the maintenance of the corporate risk register, documenting financial and non-financial risks facing the business
  • Develop an action plan for implementing controls and recommend and agree on a way of monitoring the effectiveness of the controls put in place
  • Plan control audits to gain a thorough understanding of the area under review and determine key risks and controls
  • Test and critically evaluate controls to identify issues where controls are inadequate or ineffective
  • Present and discuss adequately supported audit findings, recommendations, and conclusions with management

Requirements:

  • Relevant professional accountancy, risk management, or related qualification
  • Commercial awareness with a good understanding of a fast-paced sales and manufacturing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adaptability to business change in a fast-paced environment with a growth agenda
  • Proactive approach with the initiative to drive things forward with minimal supervision
  • Teamwork skills to work across different cultures and personality styles
  • Highly motivated approach with a delivery focus and the ability to balance conflicting requirements
