Financial Control Specialist - Glasgow

Peak Scientific Instruments Ltd is seeking an experienced Financial Control Specialist to join our HQ team in Inchinnan. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for the set-up and development of a group financial control function, including review and documentation of business processes, identification and monitoring of business risks and controls, and making recommendations as appropriate.

The role will be UK based but will require travel to our overseas offices. Your key tasks will include:

  • Reviewing and documenting full end-to-end business process flows, developing an understanding of financial and non-financial control.
  • Creating, coordinating, and driving the maintenance of the corporate risk register, documenting the financial and non-financial risks facing the business.
  • Developing an action plan for implementing controls and recommending and agreeing a way of monitoring the effectiveness of the controls put in place.
  • Planning control audits to gain a thorough understanding of the area under review and determining the key risks and controls.
  • Testing and critically evaluating controls to identify issues where controls are inadequate or ineffective.
  • Presenting and discussing adequately supported audit findings, recommendations, and conclusions with management.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with management, colleagues, and stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations.

You will be an experienced audit professional with a relevant professional accountancy, risk management, or related qualification. The successful candidate will be commercially aware with a good understanding of a fast-paced sales and manufacturing environment.
