About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant SEN school in Portsmouth.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our students with their learning and development. Your primary responsibility will be to provide individualized support to students with special educational needs, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, adapting your approach to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Assist teachers in the classroom, helping to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement behavior management strategies to help students manage their emotions and behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and other professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to supporting students.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date with best practices in SEN support.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism and/or social and emotional needs.
  • Knowledge of and experience with behavior management strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
  • A patient and nurturing approach to working with children.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.
