Job Title: Consultant in Nephrology and General Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant General Physician and Nephrologist to join our dynamic team at the James Paget University Hospital.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical opinion across a wide range of problems, with a special interest in Acute and General Medicine. They will also have the opportunity to play a significant teaching role in the Norwich Medical School.

Key Responsibilities
  • Share workload with consultant physician colleagues.
  • Provide out-of-hours cover for General Internal Medicine and cover for annual, study and professional leave.
  • Offer a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties in the Trust.
  • Liaise with medical staff in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and post-graduate activities.
  • Contribute to the continuing medical education programme.
  • Participate in teaching, audit and governance activities of the department.
Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent qualification.
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • Full GMC registration.
  • Hold a certificate or be within 6 months of completion of training or be on or eligible for the UK Specialist Register at the date of interview.
  • MD/PhD qualification.
  • Possession of ALS.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in teaching junior medical staff.
  • Motivation and ability to plan and develop the service.
  • Experience of teaching medical students.
  • Ability and enthusiasm for teaching healthcare professionals and medical students in an Acute Medicine setting.
  • Capable of organising and prioritising work effectively.
  • Willingness to participate in clinical governance.
  • Energy and enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure.
  • Conscientious and highly motivated with ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and staff.
  • Able to form part of a team and recognise the importance of team working.
  • Formal training in teaching skills.
  • Experience of committee work/project management.
  • Computer literate.
  • Forward thinking and not afraid of the challenges that change brings.
