Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dietary Aide to join our team at Mon Sheong Foundation. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving meals to our residents, maintaining the highest quality standards of food production, cleanliness, and sanitation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals to residents, ensuring that all food is palatable and at the right temperature.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, adhering to strict health and safety standards.
  • Notify the Supervisor/Cook if food or supply inventory is low, ensuring that we always have sufficient stock.
  • Receive, label, store, and check food and supplies in proper storage areas, maintaining a safe and organized environment.
  • Prepare food, snacks, and desserts for regular, texture-modified, and therapeutic diets, catering to the diverse needs of our residents.
  • Ensure that all dining areas are prepared and presented in a clean and welcoming manner, setting tables, filling condiment containers, and delivering food to tables as needed.
  • Report any safety hazards immediately to the Supervisor, prioritizing the well-being of our residents and staff.
  • Clean up dining rooms, wash equipment, collect and remove garbage from the kitchen, and follow the assigned daily cleaning and work activity schedule.
  • Attend staff meetings, committee meetings, and in-service training as required, staying up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices in the field.
  • Assist in updating residents' nutritional information as assigned, ensuring that we have accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Assist in maintaining records for the dietary operation, providing valuable insights and support to the team.

Qualifications

  • Valid Food Handler Certificate
  • Institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service experience
  • Or one of the following qualifications: students hired on a seasonal or part-time basis who have successfully completed a food handler training program; persons who meet the qualifications as Cook; or persons who have a post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition
  • Other education requirements are specified in the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021
  • Experience working in long-term care/health care setting, institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) preferred
  • Able to lift 25 pounds
  • Able to pull/push a 500-pound food warming cart
  • Long periods of standing, walking, and repeated bending
