About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our Enhanced Care and Support Team at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust.

As a Band 5 RMN, you will have responsibility for delivering high-quality enhanced care and support to patients with mental health needs within the RUH. This includes assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), providing 1:1 care, engaging in therapeutic activities, and assisting with ward-based care and interventions.

The role offers an opportunity to deliver care that is individualized and bespoke, adding value and meaning to the person. You will work collaboratively with multiple professional groups and be able to work autonomously, using sound clinical judgment.

Main Duties

  • Report to the Enhanced Care Specialist Practitioner/Team Leads for day-to-day clinical and operational support, supervision, and training.
  • Deploy daily across the RUH hospital site to support patients with mental health needs.
  • Role model and use de-escalation techniques to reduce the risk of harm to patients, relatives, carers, visitors, and staff.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and update care plans to reflect changing patient needs.

Person Specification

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse with evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983/2007), Mental Capacity Act, and Equality Act (2010).
  • Interest in working in an acute setting and delivering enhanced care.
  • Post-registration qualification or post-graduate diploma in Dementia/Delirium (preferably).
  • Experience of delivering enhanced care and support.
