Mental Health Liaison Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our established and experienced team in the Mental Health Liaison Service. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing a responsive, needs-led mental health assessment and short-term intervention service to adults presenting to the Royal United Hospital with mental health problems.
The successful candidate will have excellent biopsychosocial assessment and risk management skills, with a strong ability to work in a flexible and dynamic environment. You will be integral to improving patient journey and outcomes for those individuals referred to the team, and will have the opportunity to develop your skills and learning through ad-hoc and structured training.
The team covers a 7-day working week, 365 days a year, with a pattern of shifts that includes 8 am to 4 pm, 9-5 pm, 10 am to 6 pm, 12 to 8 pm, and 4 pm to midnight. However, flexible working arrangements will be considered to promote a healthy work-life balance.
Main Duties of the JobAs a Mental Health Liaison Nurse, you will be accountable for the provision of a responsive, needs-led mental health assessment and short-term intervention service to adults presenting to the RUH with mental health problems. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to promote a positive attitude and a supportive culture in relation to psychiatric illness across the general hospital.
You will be responsible for assessing, implementing, and evaluating programmes of care for patients, without direct supervision. You will also have the opportunity to develop good working relationships with both the RUH and community teams, and to provide teaching and learning opportunities for nursing and medical students.
The successful candidate will have a high level of clinical decision-making, risk management, and documentation skills, and will be able to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
