About the Role

Dunbar Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Health and Social Care to lead the department at a supportive secondary school in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher with leadership capabilities to take on a key role and shape the curriculum.

The department delivers the NCFE Cache Level 1/2 Technical Award starting in Year 9 and BTEC Level 3 qualifications at KS5. You will be working alongside another full-time teacher, with the opportunity to develop the curriculum and ensure students receive academic and social support.

This role involves teaching Health and Social Care across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The department also provides students with real-world experience through work placements in local pre-schools and primary schools, along with Post-16 apprenticeships. Collaboration and well-being are key within the team, making it a great place to work and grow professionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Health and Social Care department and develop the curriculum.
  • Teach Health and Social Care across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Work with another full-time teacher to deliver the NCFE Cache Level 1/2 Technical Award and BTEC Level 3 qualifications.
  • Provide students with real-world experience through work placements and Post-16 apprenticeships.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure students receive academic and social support.
Requirements
  • Be a passionate and skilled teacher with a track record of success in Health and Social Care.
  • Be confident in teaching across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Have experience in a range of Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications, particularly in Health and Social Care.
  • Possess strong leadership skills and the ability to guide a department.
  • Be committed to running after-school interventions or clubs as part of the school's extended provision.
  • Have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative, team-focused attitude.
