MHE Training and Safety Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled MHE Training and Safety Specialist to join our team at Great Bear. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading the site's Health & Safety culture and training all MHE staff to use the FMS system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the site's Health & Safety culture and ensure that it remains a top priority.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for MHE staff on the use of the FMS system.
  • Complete and support site inductions for all MHE and manual handling staff, ensuring they meet company policy and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the nominated person/s to complete risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Deliver high-quality technical skills training to support operations through various delivery methods.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure all training is completed and recorded in line with company policy.
  • Develop a site skills matrix to enable effective delivery of MHE training and ensure operators' skill levels are satisfactory.
  • Manage MHE operator numbers to minimize skill fade and risk from inexperienced and infrequent users.
  • Ensure ongoing competence of all MHE operators through refresher training, workplace assessments, and other training as needed.
  • Assist in investigating on-site and MHE-related incidents/accidents.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to reducing risk from MHE operations and develop learning from experience briefings to prevent future occurrences.
  • Assist in creating safe systems of work and suitable and sufficient risk assessments of MHE activities.
  • Ensure hazards are correctly identified and control measures introduced to eliminate or reduce risk as reasonably practicable.
  • Review safety audit gaps with site management to ensure completion of all areas.
  • Liaise with operational management to ensure all site training requirements are covered across shifts.
  • Participate in the Site MHE instructor team to ensure all training is completed and recorded in line with company policy.

  • Flexible approach to work and shift patterns to cover training.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and problem-solving abilities.
