About the role: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Housing Support Specialist to join our team at Great Places Housing Group.

Key responsibilities:

  • Use a strengths-based approach to help customers develop skills required to sustain their tenancy and resolve complex benefit issues.
  • Conduct initial assessments to understand customer needs and use coaching techniques to identify root causes of issues.
  • Collaborate with customers to develop wellbeing plans and coach them to identify actions needed to achieve their goals.
  • Provide advice and guidance on welfare benefits and welfare support to ensure customers have access to what they are entitled to.
  • Meet regularly with customers to monitor wellbeing plan outcomes, analysing trends and patterns to assess progress.
  • Assist customers in creating risk management plans to identify and manage risks in maintaining tenancy.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and in line with guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain effective networks with relevant organisations to signpost customers to appropriate services.
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues on resolving low-level issues and challenging support requirements.

Requirements:

  • GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Experience working in a support role or similar role is essential.
  • In-depth understanding of the welfare benefits system and social inclusion is crucial.
  • Experience using coaching techniques to promote independence and empower customers.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
