Job Description

We're seeking a skilled Project Controls Manager to lead a multi-functional team in supporting High-Tech and Manufacturing projects in the North West. This role involves collaborating with clients and supply chain partners to provide a realistic baseline and effective controls for project monitoring, issue management, and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Embed a robust breakdown structure to integrate data from controls functions.
  • Coordinate estimating sessions to agree on market-tested cost baselines, focusing on value for money and budget realism.
  • Lead planning sessions to compile master project schedules, ensuring achievable durations.
  • Understand procurement principles and collate lead times for schedule prioritization.
  • Manage risk assessments to support cost and schedule predictability.
  • Stakeholder management, ensuring key stakeholders sign off on baselines and receive regular progress updates.
  • Embed a robust update process to manage schedule, interfaces, cost, risk, and changes effectively.
  • Guide and influence principal contractors and clients to drive delivery and achieve schedule and cash flow KPIs.
  • Control costs using conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, basic contingency principles, and procurement principles.
  • Apply quality checks to updates from clients and principal contractors.
  • Lead change management processes and workflows to track and approve changes in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in delivering controls in major projects/programs.
  • Experience working in the Hi-Tech & Manufacturing specialist sector.
  • Management experience in a multi-functional controls team.
  • Proficiency in controls software applications like Primavera (P6), Power BI, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes.
  • Engineering and construction management expertise.
  • Leadership skills in collaborative workshops.
  • Reliable with autonomous work capabilities and teamwork.
  • Strong time management, quick thinking, and project deadline meeting abilities.
  • High motivation, driven, and client-focused with independent work capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible with travel requirements.

Salary

$80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
