The role of the Health Care Assistant is to provide direct care and support to patients as delegated by the qualified nurse.
- Provide direct care and support to patients as delegated by the qualified nurse.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and relatives.
- Assist with administrative and housekeeping duties.
- Contribute to maintaining the unit's philosophy of care.
- Work in a learning environment, providing a high standard of nursing care and support to patients.
- Work flexibly according to the needs of the department, including clinical areas across the site.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Health Care Assistant 3 in the Ophthalmology Outpatients department.
Applicants must have previous experience as a Health Care Assistant, preferably in an ophthalmology and/or outpatients setting, and have extended skills to include blood pressure monitoring, blood sampling, and phlebotomy.
Applicants must be willing to further develop their skills and knowledge on a variety of ophthalmic-related tasks and activities.
Applicants will be required to work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and be able to work across the site as necessary.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work under pressure.
Applicants must be motivated, flexible, and able to work as part of a team.

Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have:
- NVQ level 3 in care or equivalent training and experience.
- Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant, preferably in an ophthalmology and/or outpatients setting.
- Extended skills to include blood pressure monitoring, blood sampling, and phlebotomy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Motivation, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a team.
