About the Role

Hays Construction and Property is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that our organization remains legally compliant with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • ISO 14001 Implementation: Collaborate with our H&S team to implement the ISO 14001 system, ensuring that our site setup is to a high standard and compliant with H&S legislation.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all office and site-based equipment is PAT tested, documentation is updated and recorded.
  • Health and Safety Policy: Manage the company health and safety policy and update as required, advancing and developing site-specific RAMS.
  • Internal Audits: Complete internal audits required for H&S matters and provide internal training for H&S matters.
  • Accident Prevention: Provide information and solutions on how accidents can be eliminated or reduced.
  • Site Visits and Audits: Manage Health & Safety on site, including the associated paperwork, and periodically carry out site visits and audits to maintain a good health and safety culture.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide reports to the Managing Director on findings, including planned improvements, and attend selected pre-start meetings with the relevant site project teams.
  • Health and Safety Review Meetings: Chair regular Health and Safety review meetings with the management team to understand progress being made with current and future health and safety legislation.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to use your own initiative.
  • Health and Safety Experience: A few years' experience in a health and safety role, with either a H&S Advisor background or a Management role looking to progress.
  • Construction and Manufacturing Experience: Onsite Construction H&S experience, with a background in Manufacturing or a specialist sector.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organization skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and offer guidance and support to other colleagues when required.
