About the Role
The New Zealand Defence Force is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our Armoured team as a Combat Specialist - Armoured. As an Armoured soldier, you will be trained to operate and fight from within an armoured vehicle, providing protected mobility to soldiers from other trades across the Army.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the New Zealand Light Armoured Vehicle (NZLAV) in a combat role, providing protected mobility to soldiers from other trades.
- Train to operate the NZLAV in a wide range of situations, from supporting NZ Police and civil authorities, to peacekeeping and war-fighting.
- Work in a vehicle crew under the supervision and guidance of a Crew Commander.
- Attend tactical and live fire exercises at home and overseas in all sorts of challenging environments.
Career Progression
As a Combat Specialist - Armoured, you will have the opportunity to progress through the ranks and take on leadership roles within the Army. You will be trained in leadership, organisation, and administration skills, and will have the opportunity to specialise in areas such as vehicle maintenance and recovery.
Training and Development
You will undergo rigorous training to become a skilled Armoured soldier, including basic military training, combat first aid, and navigation. You will also have the opportunity to attend further training and development courses to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must be at least 17 years of age, meet the citizenship and security requirements to gain CV security clearance, and have a minimum of 3 years secondary school education. You must also be medically fit for Service and have a valid driver's license.
