Role Overview

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is seeking an exceptional Lead Play Specialist to join our dynamic team in providing therapeutic play activities for children with complex care needs.

About the Role

This part-time position will involve working with babies, children, and young people receiving end-of-life care from Rainbows. You will travel to community settings and family homes across the East Midlands, covering Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual programs of activity for children within home and community environments.
  • Support family members in creating memory-making activities using specialist skills.
  • Advise and signpost families regarding specialist play.
  • Conduct complex conversations with families about end-of-life care, recommending suitable activities and advising on timings.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism and registration with HPSET.
  • Experience working with babies, children, and young people of all ages.
  • Experience with complex and palliative care needs.
  • Ability to travel around the East Midlands and access rural locations.
