Job Overview

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Physiotherapist to join our team as a Critical Care and Weekend Working Physiotherapist. This role will provide high-quality Physiotherapy services across Children's Critical Care and the Children's wards, assessing and treating acutely unwell children. The post holder will be expected to cross-cover a mixed caseload of paediatric patients across various specialties within Oxford Children's hospital, supporting compensatory rest. The successful candidate will work closely with the holistic team, including Doctors, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, and Play Therapists.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in physiotherapy, HCPC registration, and extensive NHS experience, including paediatrics and critical care. Participation in on-call respiratory physiotherapy rota is also required. Supervision of other staff and understanding of clinical governance are essential skills for this position.

This role offers a competitive salary of £43,141 - £70,933 per annum, depending on experience, and a range of benefits, including career development opportunities, regular supervision, and staff recognition schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide an effective and efficient physiotherapy service to patients, including assessing, treating, and delegating workload within Children's Critical Care unit and paediatric wards.
  • Maintain a clinical caseload of highly complex patients, including acutely ill respiratory patients with or without ventilatory support, in Children's Critical Care.
  • Provide cover and support to neonatal unit for acutely ill pre-term/term infants with or without ventilatory support.
  • Partake in supervision, teaching, and appraisal of junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy students, including on-call competency programme.
