Job Title

Compliance Consultant

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee Customs Compliance processes for the largest aircraft engine service facility within a global business.
  2. Manage import and export processes within the site for a global supply chain, identifying areas of risk to the business, including investigation of compliance defects and leading corrective actions to closure.
  3. Manage direct reports and maintain internal team processes and ongoing training.
  4. Manage the classification and valuation of goods process to ensure accurate and consistent customs declarations in line with HMRC and global policies.
  5. Provide technical customs advice and guidance to programme teams to ensure compliance with internal corporate policies and procedures.
  6. Oversee monitoring of customs entries to ensure freight agents have imported/exported goods correctly, and request amendments where required.
  7. Support and lead internal training needs to ensure processes and work instructions are followed.
  8. Maintain knowledge of and stay current on regulatory changes and solid understanding of required documentation such as commercial invoices.
  9. Represent the company in discussions with local customs authorities and manage any customs audits, ensuring accurate and timely data is provided where required.
  10. Work with customs and transport organisations to execute global trade compliance policies and strategies.
  11. Review and update internal policies and SOPs in line with new and changing regulations.
  12. Strong computer literacy skills, with ongoing experience of windows-based packages.
  13. Possess a strong understanding of HM Customs & Excise IPR, End Use, and Community Control procedures.
  14. Bachelor's Degree / relevant diploma holder desirable.
  15. Possess an innovative, logical, and creative approach to resolving issues and process improvements.
  16. Understanding of technical issues such as Airworthiness Directives (AD's) and transport quality/compliance standards.
  17. Have experience and communication skills to deal with a large cross-section of the business.
  18. Have professional attributes to deal with customers, contractors, and auditors face-to-face.
