Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

About the Role:

Torfaen County Borough Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as an Environmental Health Officer. The successful candidate will provide advice, support, and enforcement of regulatory provisions related to food, health, and safety, and communicable disease control in Torfaen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure businesses comply with relevant legislation through advice, education, partnership working, and enforcement action.
  • Provide expert advice on food safety, health, and safety, and communicable disease control.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to promote local business growth and safeguard public health.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to prevent and control communicable diseases.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Hold a degree in Environmental Health and a Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Registration Board or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of 10 Continual Professional Development (CPD) hours within the last 12 months of food training relating to the delivery of food official controls.
  • Be able to communicate effectively using various styles, methods, and timing, including digital channels.
  • Have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and enforcement procedures.
