Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

Torfaen County Borough Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as an Environmental Health Officer.

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of Torfaen residents by enforcing regulatory provisions related to food, health, and safety, and communicable disease control.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing advice and support to businesses to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Conducting inspections and enforcing regulatory provisions to safeguard public health and wellbeing.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to promote local business growth and improve public health outcomes.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting on enforcement activities.
  • Participating in emergency out-of-hours standby services as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Environmental Health or a related field.
  • A Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Registration Board or equivalent.
  • Relevant Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) qualification for enforcement officers.
  • Minimum of 10 Continual Professional Development (CPD) hours within the last 12 months of food training relating to the delivery of food official controls.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
