Career Opportunities in Social Inequality Research

Equalise, an ESRC-funded research centre at UCL, is seeking a PhD student to investigate the impact of job quality on health outcomes in the care sector. The role involves mixed-methods research using quantitative Census data, qualitative interviews with care workers, and analysis of UK Household Longitudinal Survey data.
The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr Baowen Xue, Prof Anne McMunn, and Dr Corinna Elsenbroich, with input from the Women's Budget Group. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to reducing health inequalities from a lifecourse perspective.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct mixed-methods research to investigate the impact of job quality on health outcomes in the care sector
- Analyze quantitative Census data and qualitative interview responses to identify trends and patterns
- Work with supervisors to develop and refine research questions and methodology
- A Master's degree in a relevant subject area (social sciences, epidemiology, public health, or statistics) with a merit or distinction
- A First Class or Upper Second Class Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject area
- Eligibility for home fees
