About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Specialty Doctor to join our Community Mental Health Service (CMHS) team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to adults of working age with severe and enduring mental illness.

The CMHS provides coordinated community psychiatric care across two GP-based localities in Plymouth. Our team includes Senior and Junior Medical Staff, Community Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, and Psychologists. We work closely with GP practices and assessments are carried out in Primary Care where possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage patients with complex mental health needs
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Provide high-quality care and support to patients and their families
  • Work closely with primary care colleagues to ensure smooth functioning of the service
  • Contribute to the development of psychotherapeutic skills and training in family interventions and CBT
Person Specification
  • Four years full-time postgraduate training or equivalent
  • At least two years in specialty training relevant to the post or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of current mental health legislation
  • Ability to interview and assess patients and write comprehensive medical notes
  • Willingness to work in a clinic and community setting
  • Three years psychiatric training in a specialty training programme
  • Prior experience of working in Community Mental Health Teams
  • Ability to communicate with patients and staff to a high standard
  • Computer and IT skills
