Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology to join our expanding department at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. This individual should have a sound general ophthalmic training and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Main Responsibilities
The appointee will be required to work with their colleagues in providing a high-quality service in Ophthalmology, meeting government set waiting list targets and the Trust's quality standards. This will involve:
- Providing general ophthalmology and specialist activity within Medical retina or Glaucoma
- Supporting the team in developing improved pathways in line with national eye care recovery and transformation programme
- Working with Orthoptists and Optometrists to deliver improved patient pathways and working relationships with the wider medical services within UHP
- Participating in teaching and training of Allied Health Professionals
About the Role
This post will be based in the new purpose-built REI Ophthalmology centre, where you will join an experienced team to provide high-quality patient care. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of patients and develop your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrable experience in Ophthalmology
- Full GMC Registration
- 4 years experience in Ophthalmology
- Demonstrate evidence of a sound ophthalmic training equivalent to that recognised in the UK
- Equivalent of M/FRCOphth, M/FRCS, Overseas equivalent (desirable)
