Quantitative Trader

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Quantitative Trader. As a Quantitative Trader, you will be responsible for analyzing and executing trading strategies, constructing quantitative models, conducting statistical analysis, and building trading intuition.
You will work closely with experienced traders to identify market signals, analyze and execute strategies, and develop a deep understanding of the markets. You will also participate in simulated interactive team-based mock trading sessions, which will expose you to the dynamics of real markets and help build your intuition for trading and collaboration.
In addition to your trading responsibilities, you will also participate in intensive classes on the fundamentals of markets and trading, workshops on various tools we use, and interactive lunch seminars with senior traders. During the second half of the internship, you will also have the opportunity to participate in one of our elective programs, which will give you a deeper and more nuanced look into one of the many aspects of trading and research at Jane Street.
Elective ProgramsWe offer three elective programs that will give you a deeper understanding of the markets and trading:
- Algorithmic Trading and Market Microstructure
You will learn the end-to-end process of developing an algorithmic trading strategy, from analyzing market data to implementing a trading strategy in Python. You will work closely with full-time traders to develop a tradable fair value and optimize your strategy given the unique attributes of each market.
Trading Strategy and ScenariosYou will be introduced to new trading scenarios inspired by real events on a particular trading desk. You will work in teams on multiple mock trading sessions related to each scenario and use the time between sessions to refine your strategy, write recaps, and hear how the story played out in real life from our seasoned full-time traders who lived through it.
Modeling, Machine Learning, and Data ScienceYou will learn how Jane Street applies advanced machine learning and statistical techniques to model and predict large datasets. You will analyze real trading data, simulated market data, and prediction markets, and gain an understanding of the differences between textbook machine learning and its application to noisy and complex financial data.
About YouWe are looking for a strong quantitative thinker who enjoys working collaboratively on a team. You should be eager to ask questions, admit mistakes, and learn new things. You should also be fluent in English and have general programming experience, although knowing a particular programming language is not required.
