About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our Lingerie team on a maternity cover basis. As a key member of our buying team, you will be responsible for implementing the sourcing and buying strategy for our Lingerie product range, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible products at the right price.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the buying team to ensure targets are identified and met
  • Ensure that our supply base has the capability to meet our requirements
  • Negotiate with suppliers for the best possible prices while maintaining product integrity and standards in production
  • Understand and contribute towards brand and product handwriting
  • Ensure that agreed levels of good, better, and best products are bought
  • Review competitor activity and ensure customer and competitor benchmarking is completed
  • Understand profit and intake margin strategy, focusing on achieved margin targets
  • Continually drive newness and initiative, maximising sales and minimising risk
  • Challenge and manage underperformance where necessary
  • Work with garment tech to take joint responsibility for fit and quality
  • Regularly visit stores and work closely with retail colleagues
  • Work with the supply base and wider buying team to source and develop new product opportunities
  • Secure dates for product sign-off at appropriate points in the season
  • Oversee the critical path management for the department
  • Assist in driving marketing and trading activity
  • Ensure Competency Reviews are completed, and Personal Development plans are developed and kept live with the buying team
  • Work with the HR team to ensure that the teams are developed to the required skill levels
  • Cascade strategic objectives to the wider teams
  • Work alongside the buying teams to ensure that agreed looks and colour palettes are developed and delivered with consistency
  • Develop and share best practice across the buying floor
  • Ensure that communication of issues and developments to the Director is timely, consistent, and in the appropriate format
  • Undertake project work when required
  • Deliver a profitable range in a timely manner
  • Develop a range which works visually alongside other products to agreed guidelines
  • Build and motivate a professional and respected team
  • Work within budget to increase sales while reducing markdown
