About the Social Care Lawyer Role:

The London Borough of Lewisham is seeking a qualified lawyer to join their social care team. The ideal candidate will have experience in childcare, preferably from a local authority setting, but applicants from private practice are also encouraged to apply.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Holding a caseload of predominantly pre-proceedings cases
  • Undertaking a wide variety of child protection or adult protection cases, including giving advice and assistance
  • Carrying out legal research for own cases and supporting other lawyers within the team
  • Attending meetings with clients and external parties, professionals' meetings and panels as required, and advising on all aspects of social services work
  • Advising Social Services clients on relevant legislation
  • Demonstrating knowledge of relevant legislation, specifically the jurisdiction of the Family Court and/or the Court of Protection
