About the Childcare Lawyer Position:

The London Borough of Lewisham is seeking a qualified Childcare Lawyer to join their dynamic and friendly Legal Team. As a Childcare Lawyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the borough's vibrant and culturally diverse communities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deputise for Senior Social Care Lawyers and handle a demanding caseload of child protection cases.
  • Advise Social Services clients on relevant legislation and prepare legal documentation.
  • Attend meetings with clients, external parties, and professionals, and advise on social services work.
  • Carry out legal research and assist Senior Social Care Lawyers with complex matters.

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years PQE (Barrister, Solicitor, or CILEx).
  • Current practising certificate.
  • Experience in Childcare Law, preferably from a local authority setting.
