About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Psychologist to join our team at Powys Teaching Health Board. As an Assistant Psychologist, you will play a vital role in supporting the professional psychological care of clients within our Older Adult Psychology Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Older Adult Psychology Service.
  • Conduct psychological assessments and interventions, working independently under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist.
  • Assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects.
  • Communicate condition-related information to clients, relatives, and other stakeholders in a clear and empathetic manner.
  • Liaise with private and voluntary organisations, as required.
  • Attend team meetings and other multi-disciplinary, clinical meetings about individual service users, as necessary.
Requirements
  • Upper Second or First-Class Honours degree in Psychology.
  • Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Previous employment or voluntary or research work with individuals with psychological and/or other difficulties.
  • Knowledge of clinical use of neuropsychological assessments.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Postgraduate training/experience in relevant area of Applied Psychology and in Research.
  • Knowledge of, or additional training in, working with older adults with a history of mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of working with individuals with a history of complex mental health issues/dementia and their families/carers.
  • Experience of administering standardised psychological assessments.
  • Experience of group work.
