POSITION OVERVIEW
The YARD/HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR at Tex-Mix Concrete is tasked with the proficient operation of a front-end loader to facilitate uninterrupted production in a secure environment. This position encompasses routine machinery upkeep, mastering loader functionalities specific to a concrete plant, and executing cleaning responsibilities to ensure smooth operations. The operator will also manage additional heavy machinery and contribute to construction-related activities.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- SAFE OPERATIONS: Operate the loader and heavy machinery with utmost safety, adhering to all established safety protocols.
- PRODUCTION SUPPORT: Ensure the concrete plant is adequately supplied with materials in alignment with production demands.
- MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY INSPECTIONS: Conduct daily checks and maintenance on equipment to maintain operational effectiveness.
- COMMUNICATION: Maintain effective communication with the batching office using two-way radios or hand signals.
- ADAPTATION AND LEARNING: Acquire knowledge and adapt to loader operations within the concrete plant setting.
- ROUTINE CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE: Regularly clean and service the loader and concrete plant utilizing hand tools.
- MATERIALS KNOWLEDGE: Develop an understanding of sand and gravel operations and maintenance of the concrete plant.
- BLOCK FORM MANAGEMENT: Oversee block form activities including setup, pouring, and inventory oversight.
- INVENTORY SUPPORT: Assist with monthly inventory assessments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be capable of extensive walking, sitting, lifting, and climbing, with the ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
- ADAPTABILITY: Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, as required.
- SAFETY AWARENESS: Commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture.
- EXPOSURE TO ELEMENTS: Prepared for outdoor work in various weather and noise conditions.
- PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Required to utilize appropriate PPE during operations.
- COMMUNICATION ABILITY: Strong communication skills in relation to heavy machinery operations.
- PHYSICAL CAPACITY: Must be able to effectively control and operate machinery.
- HEALTH AND SAFETY COMPLIANCE: Must pass necessary health evaluations and screenings.
- FLEXIBILITY IN DUTIES: Willingness to undertake additional responsibilities as necessary.
EXPERIENCE PREFERENCE
Previous experience operating front-end loaders in a concrete plant environment is advantageous.
A valid Texas Driver's License is required.
