Heavy Maintenance Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Maintenance professional to join our team at Arriva TrainCare. As a Heavy Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance and overhaul of rail vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out maintenance and repair tasks on rail vehicles, including fitting floors, panelling, seating, tables, windows, and doors.
  • Perform electrical tasks, such as installation and replacement of traction and rolling stock components, and modifications in accordance with specified procedures.
  • Operate rail vehicles as required, within depot operating limits, and in accordance with all relevant operating procedures.
  • Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI & local instruction.
  • Ensure that work sheets are signed off promptly and correctly on completion of work.
  • Ensure that the appropriate Quality and Environmental procedures and work instructions are adhered to.
Requirements:
  • Experienced electrical engineer, qualified to NVQ Level 3, ideally with experience of working with rail traction and rolling stock, or commercial / heavy engineering.
  • Proven experience, involvement, and understanding of rail vehicle heavy maintenance activities (desirable).
  • Understanding of Depot Operations, along with working knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering.
