About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tunneling Engineer to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our Ground Engineering and Tunnelling (GE&T) Practice, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality tunnelling projects and expanding our capabilities in this field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Tunneling team with strategic bids and business development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a network of business contacts to contribute to the growth of the Tunneling disciplines.
  • Integrate the team with our technical discipline and market leads.
  • Mentor early career team members and contribute to the development of our team's skills and expertise.

Requirements

  • A strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally MSc or equivalent).
  • Chartered status in civil or structural engineering (a requirement).
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical skills, with the ability to develop and lead tunnelling design teams.
  • Project management experience, including relationships with clients, work planning, and commercial management.
  • Proven tunnelling design experience in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
  • Proven experience using advanced constitutive soil models and numerical modelling software (FLAC or PLAXIS).
  • Proven experience using advanced structural analysis and numerical modelling software (Robot or STAAD).
  • Application of CDM Regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients.
  • Excellent report writing skills, with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.

Additional Information

This role may require security clearance, and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
